(a) (i) be solicitors with at least 6 years’ professional experience in construction law and/or civil litigation practice since admission in Hong Kong or any one of the recognised jurisdictions as stipulated under Section 2A and Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance; or (ii) be barristers with at least 7 years’ professional experience in construction law and/or civil litigation practice since attaining the right to full practice in Hong Kong or any one of the recognised jurisdictions as stipulated under Section 2A and Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance; and
(b) have met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 2’ or above in English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent. (Note: For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in English Language and Chinese Language respectively in the 2007 HKCEE or henceforth.)
Candidates with less working experience (a minimum of 4 years’ professional experience for solicitors or 5 years’ professional experience for barristers) may also apply.
Note: Candidates with a minimum of 4 years’ professional experience for solicitors or 5 years’ professional experience for barristers but lower than the stipulated entry requirements, if selected, will be offered a salary at an appropriate level lower than HK$105,880 per month. Duties: To be deployed in the Works Branch of the Development Bureau to provide construction law related legal advice on contractual documents, claims and disputes, etc., to conduct relevant dispute resolution proceedings where necessary and to provide general legal advice on areas falling within the purview of the Works Branch of the Development Bureau. Terms of Appointment: Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for around one year. Renewal of contract will be subject to the service need of the Works Branch of the Development Bureau and the candidate’s performance. Fringe Benefits (a) Upon satisfactory completion of the contract, the appointee will be eligible for an end-of-contract gratuity which, when added together with the Government’s contribution to the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
(b) Include annual leave of 12 days per year of service; full pay sick leave in accordance with the provisions of the contract; and maternity/paternity leave, where appropriate.
