(4) 在International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 學術模式整體分級取得6.5或以上，並在同一次考試中各項個別分級取得不低於6的成績的人士，在IELTS考試成績的兩年有效期內，會獲接納為擁有等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的二級成績。IELTS考試成績必須在職位開始接受申請的首天(即2016年4月1日)仍然有效。

Job Number: 37297 Department: Official Receiver's Office Job Title: Solicitor of the Unified Solicitor Grade Salary: Master Pay Scale Point 32 to Point 44 (HK$59,445 - HK$95,215 per month) [see Note (1)]. Subject to the prevailing situation, candidates with additional relevant post-qualification experience above the stipulated basic requirement may be considered for the granting of increments. Entry Requirements: Candidates should:
(a) (i) be solicitors admitted in a recognized jurisdiction as stipulated under Section 2A and Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance; or
(ii) be barristers with one year's professional experience since attaining the right to full practice in a recognized jurisdiction as stipulated under Section 2A and Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance [see Note (1)];
(b) have Level 2 result in the Use of English paper and Level 1 result in the Use of Chinese paper in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) [see Note (2) to (5)]; and
(c) be fluent in Cantonese.
Note: (1) Barristers with right to full practice but who do not possess one year's professional experience since attaining this right may also apply. If selected, they will enter at an appropriate point below the minimum of the Solicitor pay scale.
(2) The results of the Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE) papers in the CRE are classified as Level 2, Level 1 or Fail, with Level 2 being the highest.
(3) For civil service appointment purpose,
(a) Level 5 or above in Chinese Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE); or Grade C or above in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UC paper of the CRE;
(b) Level 4 in Chinese Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade D in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the HKALE, are accepted as equivalent to Level 1 in the UC paper of the CRE;
(c) Level 5 or above in English Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade C or above in Use of English of the HKALE; or Grade C or above in English Language of the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) (GCE A Level), are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UE paper of the CRE;
(d) Level 4 in English Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade D in Use of English of the HKALE; or Grade D in English Language of the GCE A Level, are accepted as equivalent to Level 1 in the UE paper of the CRE.
(4) Applicants with an overall band of 6.5 or above with no subtest score below band 6 obtained in the same sitting in the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the two-year validity period of the test result are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UE paper of the CRE. The IELTS test result must be valid on the starting day of the application period, i.e. 1 April 2016.
(5) Applicants who do not possess the requisite CRE results, or equivalent, but have applied to take the relevant papers in the coming CRE to be held in June 2016 may also apply. Their applications will only be considered (including issue of an invitation to interview (if qualified)) when the requisite CRE results have been obtained. Such applicants must advise the Personnel Registry of this office by fax at 3106 0347 or by email at email@example.com within 7 days of the date of the notification of the CRE results that they have obtained the requisite CRE results, otherwise, their applications will be treated as withdrawn and will not be considered.
(6) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will constitute an appropriate weighting in a candidate's overall assessment.
(7) Applications from serving civil servants at Solicitor rank of the Unified Solicitor Grade would not normally be considered.
(8) Promotion opportunities to the rank of Senior Solicitor may arise. The current starting salary of a Senior Solicitor is $101,620 per month.
Duties: Successful candidates will be members of the Unified Solicitor Grade under the management of the Official Receiver. At the discretion of the Official Receiver, successful candidates will initially be posted to the legal services division of one of the following departments and may be transferred between such departments from time to time under the Unified Solicitor Grade Career Development Scheme. The main duties include:
Official Receiver's Office :
Handling civil litigation and insolvency court work including court hearings, the prosecution of insolvency related offences, the disqualification of directors under the Companies (Winding Up and Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance (Cap. 32), proposed new legislation and general legal advice on insolvency matters under the Bankruptcy Ordinance and the Companies (Winding Up and Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance.
Lands Department :
Working in the Legal Advisory and Conveyancing Office on drafting and settling land grants and other documents, processing land resumption and surrender, checking of title, administering the Lands Department Consent Scheme and approving Deeds of Mutual Covenant, providing legal advice on land-related matters including matters affecting the New Territories (which will require successful applicants to work in New Territories offices), conducting legal research and general Government conveyancing including conveyancing work for the Government Property Agency.
Companies Registry :
Giving legal advice on the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) and other related ordinances, advising on the registrability of documents and other applications under the Companies Ordinance, conducting prosecutions and investigation of complaint cases and undertaking legal research.
Land Registry :
Giving legal advice on all matters relating to the Land Registration Ordinance (Cap. 128), the Land Titles Ordinance (Cap. 585), registration of incorporated owners of building under the Building Management Ordinance (Cap. 344) and other related legislation; assisting in the preparation of an amendment ordinance, subsidiary legislation, practice notes, forms and other documents and conducting training for the implementation of the title registration system.
Terms of Appointment: A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
