Job Number: 38933 Department: Leisure and Cultural Services Department Job Title: Artisan in Stage Work Type Salary: Master Pay Scale Point 5 (HK$15,605 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 8 (HK$18,840 per month) Entry Requirements: Candidates should have -
(a) completed a full apprenticeship or approved course of training or possessed relevant working experience in theatre / stage support;
(b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard; and
(c) passed a trade test at appropriate level.
Note: (i) Candidates should state clearly in their applications their full record of employment, apprenticeship and training, academic qualifications and Chinese and English languages proficiency level. Applications which did not provide all information as requested or which are not clear that the candidates have met the entry requirements will not be considered.
(ii) All qualifications required should be obtained on or before the application deadline. Qualifications obtained after the application deadline will not be considered.
(iii) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
(iv) The post is open to both male and female candidates.
Duties: An Artisan in Stage Work Type is mainly deployed on:
(a) operating stage counterweight and electrical systems such as computerized flying system and revolving stage or special effects and performing other stage operation duties under supervision;
(b) assisting in setting up, dismantling and moving furniture, stage equipment and scenery for rehearsals and performances at indoor/outdoor venues;
(c) carrying out regular inspection and maintenance to upkeep all stage equipment/facilities and related items to ensure that they are in good working condition at all times;
(d) designing, repairing, manufacturing and maintaining metalwares, woodenwares and utensils; and
(e) assisting in other theatre/stage support duties as required.
(Notes: Members of the grade – (i) are required to work 45 hours net per week; are subject to posting and transfer within the relevant work types and work in remote areas at the discretion of the Head of Grade/Department; and are required to wear uniform. (ii) may be required to perform shift duties and work irregular hours; perform outdoor duties; undergo in-service training; and supervise junior staff.)
Terms of Appointment: A new appointee will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms. General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment.

(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Application forms should reach the enquiry address on or before the closing date for application with the envelope clearly marked with “For application of Artisan in Stage Work Type” (The postmark will be referred to for the submission date of the application by mail.) Applicants should ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage is affixed before posting so as to avoid unsuccessful delivery of application. Any underpaid mail items will be returned or disposed of by the Hongkong Post. Online application can also be made through the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about five to eight weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications.
