Job Number: 38922 Department: Education Bureau Division/Section/Unit: Professional Development and Training Division Job Title: Assessment Officer (Kindergarten Education) (EDB/PDT/122/17) Salary: $65,125 per month Entry Requirements: (a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree in early childhood education, or equivalent [see Note (i)];
(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent;
(c) At least 10 years' post-degree teaching, quality assurance and/ or curriculum development experience in kindergarten education [see Note (ii)];
(d) Good English and Chinese writing skills, fluent in spoken English and Cantonese; and
(e) Candidates with experience in training or assessing teachers are preferred.
Note: (i) Candidates should mark clearly on their application forms the major and minor subjects studied in their degree course. Candidates possessing additional qualifications (e.g. a second/higher degree in a relevant subject) should include details in their applications; and
(ii) Candidates with the relevant experience should list the details and nature of the experience on the application forms.
Duties: (a) To support the Assessment Panel in working out the detailed assessment criteria and excellence indicators and to undertake research as may be required by the Assessment Panel of the Chief Executive's Award for Teaching Excellence [CEATE];
(b) To liaise with schools, nominators and/ or nominees on matters relating to the assessment of nominations;
(c) To support the Assessment Panel in conducting initial assessment of all nominations received such as examining nomination documents, conducting interviews, taking notes, compiling reports, etc;
(d) To support the Assessment Panel in conducting detailed assessment of the short-listed nominations, such as conducting school visits, class observations, taking notes, compiling reports, etc;
(e) To provide professional inputs for the publication of the CEATE Compendium, the preparation of the sharing session of the Award Presentation Ceremony, the production of publicity videos, the information to be uploaded to the awarded teaching practices repository in CEATE website, etc; and
(f) To compile a comprehensive report on the assessment work and to assist in the professional and administrative duties.
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 1 year. Fringe Benefits (a) 14 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. (b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
