Model Scale I Pay Scale Point 0 ($13,040) per month to Model Scale I Pay Scale Point 8 ($15,365) per month
Candidates should have (a) completed Primary 6 education or equivalent; (b) 1 year’s experience in messengerial and cleansing duties; and (c) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard.
(Note : Candidates will be required to pass a trade test.)
(1) The post is open to both male and female.
(2) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will be tested orally on their BL knowledge during the interview. The BL test result will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.

(3)For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
A Workman II is mainly deployed on (a) delivery of training and operational stores/equipment to various locations in connection with departmental and volunteer activities; (b) assisting duties in receipt and issue of stores; (c) messengerial duties, including delivery of documents to and from Government offices in urban areas and New Territories; and (d) cleansing/moving of office furniture and equipment under supervision.
On appointment, a successful candidate is subject to posting and transfer. He/She is required to become a member on the volunteer side of the Auxiliary Medical Service. He/She is required to work shifts, irregular hours (including evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays) and to perform duties during typhoons and other emergencies.
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the trade test/selection interview without being subject to further shortlisting.

Completed forms, together with copies of official transcripts and certificates and copies of supporting documents of working experience (if applicable), should reach the Personnel Registry, Room 325, Auxiliary Medical Service Headquarters, 81 Princess Margaret Road, Homantin, Kowloon by the deadline (according to the date of postmark for submissions by post), with the envelope clearly marked “Application for the post of Workman II”.

A relevant trade test will be conducted before the interview. Candidates who are selected for trade test will normally receive an invitation in about eight to ten weeks from the closing date for applications. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications.
