The post is open to both male and female. Candidates should have (a) completed Form 3, or equivalent; (b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Form 3 standard; and (c) a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience of work in government
(a) general manual duties, such as moving office furniture/equipment, loading and unloading of stores, stationery and printed material, transporting gas cylinders and solvents, etc; (b) messengerial duties including indoor and outdoor collection and delivery of documents, mails and other articles; (c) general administrative support duties, such as opening and locking exits, manning reception counter, receiving visitors, receiving samples at the samples/exhibits counters, answering telephone calls and simple enquiries, photocopying and sorting/binding of papers and documents, preparing venues for meetings and activities; (d) pantry service including serving tea for meetings and minor cleansing work; and (e) any other general office duties assigned by supervisors. (Remarks : May be subject to cross-divisional postings in the Government Laboratory and be required to work irregular hours and overtime.)
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for approximately one year.
Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), paid annual leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme as required by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the enquiry address.

Completed application forms [G.F. 340 (Rev. 3/2013)] together with copies of the proof of academic qualifications and the relevant working experience should be sent to the enquiry address on or before the closing date for application. Please mark on the envelope “Application for the post of Contract Workman”. Applications which are incomplete or late will not be accepted. If the application is submitted by post, the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application. Applicants should ensure that sufficient postage is paid to avoid unsuccessful delivery of application. Any underpaid mail items will be returned or disposed of by the Hongkong Post. Application forms are obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centre of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centre of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website at http://www.csb.gov.hk. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about eight to ten weeks from the closing date for application. A relevant trade test will be conducted at the time of interview. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
