入職條件:	申請人須－ (a) 持有本港大學頒授的醫療科技、健康科學、生命科學、化學、應用物理、材料科學或工程學科的一級或二級榮譽學士學位，或具同等學歷[見註(1)]； (b) 符合語文能力要求，即在綜合招聘考試兩張語文試卷(中文運用及英文運用)中取得「一級」成績，或具同等成績[見註(2)及註(3)]； (c) 於取得上述學歷後，具備三年下述相關工作經驗：(i)實驗所、認證機構或檢驗機構的運作，或向這些機構提供認可服務；或(ii)管理生物科技、環境科技、紡織及製衣科技或材料科技相關範疇的研究及發展(研發)項目，或評審這些項目的申請；以及 (d) 在《基本法及香港國安法》測試中取得及格成績。[見註(4)] 申請人須提供履歷表，列明現時及過去的相關受僱情況、職位、工作及職責。[見註(5)]
註:	(1) 申請人須在申請表格上清楚註明獲頒授的榮譽等級及所修讀學位課程的主修和副修科目。 (2) 曾應考綜合招聘考試多於一次的申請人，應填報最佳的綜合招聘考試成績。 (3) 綜合招聘考試的中文運用及英文運用試卷的成績分為二級、一級或不及格，並以二級為最高等級。政府在聘任公務員時，香港中學文憑考試中國語文科第5級或以上成績；或香港高級程度會考中國語文及文化或中國語言文學C級或以上成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試中文運用試卷的二級成績。香港中學文憑考試中國語文科第4級成績；或香港高級程度會考中國語文及文化或中國語言文學D級成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試中文運用試卷的一級成績。香港中學文憑考試英國語文科第5級或以上成績；或香港高級程度會考英語運用科C級或以上成績；或General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) (GCE A Level) English Language科C級或以上成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的二級成績。香港中學文憑考試英國語文科第4級成績；或香港高級程度會考英語運用科D級成績;或GCE A Level English Language科D級成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的一級成績。在International English Language Testing System (IELTS)學術模式整體分級取得6.5或以上，並在同一次考試中各項個別分級取得不低於6的成績的人士，在IELTS考試成績的兩年有效期內，其IELTS成績會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的二級成績。IELTS考試成績必須在職位申請期內其中任何一日有效。 (4) 政府會測試所有應徵公務員職位人士的《基本法》及《香港國安法》知識。在《基本法及香港國安法》測試取得及格成績是所有公務員職位的入職條件。申請人必須在《基本法及香港國安法》測試中取得及格成績方會獲考慮聘用。如申請人在申請公務員職位時仍未曾參加相關的《基本法及香港國安法》測試或未曾在相關的《基本法及香港國安法》測試考獲及格成績，仍可作出申請。他們會被安排在招聘過程中參加相關的《基本法及香港國安法》測試。 (5) 填妥的申請表格，連同(i)履歷表；(ii)綜合招聘考試成績副本(如有)；(iii)《基本法及香港國安法》測試成績副本(如有)；以及(iv)現時及過去的相關受僱記錄副本，須於截止申請日期或之前(信封上的郵戳日期將視作申請日期)送達下列聯絡地址。
職責:	科學主任主要負責以下其中一個範疇的工作： (a) 香港認可處 (i) 為推行各項認可服務提供技術及行政支援，包括香港實驗所認可計劃、香港認證機構認可計劃和香港檢驗機構認可計劃下的認可服務； (ii) 協助制定認可政策； (iii) 提供專業意見並與專業人員及其他相關各方聯絡；以及 (iv) 統籌和執行認可申請的評審工作。 或 (b) 生物科技總監組／科學顧問組 (i) 就資助申請進行技術評審；為項目評審委員會／評審小組提供支援；以及監察獲批核研發項目的推行情況；以及 (ii) 就科技相關事宜提供技術支援，例如為高級官員擬備出席會議所需的資料簡介；協助與學術界、研究界和商界開展合作；以及掌握相關行業的最新科技發展及科技需要。
聘用條款:	獲取錄的申請人通常會按公務員試用條款受聘三年。通過試用關限後，或可獲考慮按當時適用的長期聘用條款受聘。

Entry Requirements:	Candidates should have – (a) a first or second class honours bachelor’s degree in medical technology, health sciences, life sciences, chemistry, applied physics, materials science, or engineering from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent [see Note (1)]; (b) met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 1’ results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) or equivalent [see Note (2) and (3)]; (c) three years’ post-qualification experience relating to (i) laboratory, certification body or inspection body operation or accreditation of such bodies; or (ii) administration of research and development (R&D) projects in the biotechnology, environmental technology, textiles and clothing technology or materials technology related fields, or assessment of such project applications; and (d) have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST). [see Note (4)] Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae (CV) including a summary of relevant present and previous employment, position, jobs and responsibilities. [see Note (5)]
Note:	(1) Candidates should mark clearly on their application forms the class of honours obtained and the major and minor subjects studied in their degree courses. (2) Candidates who have sat for the CRE for more than one time should submit their best CRE results. (3) Results in the Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE) papers of the CRE are classified as Level 2, Level 1 or Fail, with Level 2 being the highest. For civil service appointment purpose, Level 5 or above in Chinese Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE); or Grade C or above in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UC paper of the CRE. Level 4 in Chinese Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade D in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the HKALE, are accepted as equivalent to Level 1 in the UC paper of the CRE. Level 5 or above in English Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade C or above in Use of English of the HKALE; or Grade C or above in English Language of the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) (GCE A Level), are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UE paper of the CRE. Level 4 in English Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade D in Use of English of the HKALE; or Grade D in English Language of the GCE A Level, are accepted as equivalent to Level 1 in the UE paper of the CRE. Applicants with an overall band of 6.5 or above with no subtest score below band 6 obtained in the same sitting in the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the two-year validity period of the test result are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UE paper of the CRE. The IELTS test result must be valid on any date during the application period. (4) All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the BLNST is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the BLNST will be considered for appointment. For candidates who have not taken the relevant BLNST or have not attained a pass result in the relevant BLNST at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the relevant BLNST during the recruitment process. Duties:	A Scientific Officer is mainly deployed to work in one of the following areas : (a) Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS) (i) providing technical and administrative assistance in the implementation of accreditation programmes, including those under the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme, the Hong Kong Certification Body Accreditation Scheme and the Hong Kong Inspection Body Accreditation Scheme; (ii) assisting in formulation of accreditation policy; (iii) providing professional input and liaising with professionals and other relevant parties; and (iv) co-ordinating and performing accreditation assessments. Or (b) Biotechnology Director’s Team/Science Advisor’s Team (i) conducting technical assessment of funding applications; providing support to the project vetting committees/assessment panels; and monitoring the implementation of the approved R&D projects; and (ii) providing technical support on technology-related matters such as preparing briefs for senior officials in attending meetings; assisting in collaboration with the academic, research and business sectors; and keeping abreast of technological development and the technological needs of the relevant industry.
Terms of Appointment:	A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
