註:	(1) 為符合(a)項入職條件，申請人如只具備非本地專業資格，應在截止申請日期前提交證明文件，例如能證明申請人的資格獲香港工程師學會接納為會員（土木界別）的證據，以證明該等資格等同本地有關專業資格。 (2) 綜合招聘考試能力傾向測試試卷的成績分為及格或不及格。綜合招聘考試的中文運用及英文運用試卷的成績分為二級、一級或不及格，並以二級為最高等級。政府在聘任公務員時，香港中學文憑考試中國語文科第5級或以上成績;或香港高級程度會考中國語文及文化、中國語言文學或中國語文科C級或以上的成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試中文運用試卷的二級成績。香港中學文憑考試中國語文科第4級成績;或香港高級程度會考中國語文及文化、中國語言文學或中國語文科D級的成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試中文運用試卷的一級成績。香港中學文憑考試英國語文科第5級或以上成績;或香港高級程度會考英語運用科C級或以上成績;或General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) (GCE A Level) English Language科C級或以上成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的二級成績。香港中學文憑考試英國語文科第4級成績;或香港高級程度會考英語運用科D級成績;或GCE A Level English Language科D級成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的一級成績。在International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 學術模式整體分級取得6.5或以上，並在同一次考試中各項個別分級取得不低於6的成績的人士，在IELTS考試成績的兩年有效期內，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的二級成績。IELTS考試成績必須在職位申請期內其中任何一日有效。 (3) 為提高大眾對《基本法》的認知和在社區推廣學習《基本法》的風氣，政府會測試應徵公務員職位人士的《基本法》知識。申請人在基本法測試的表現會佔其整體表現的一個適當比重。 (4) 獲取錄的申請人將隸屬土木工程拓展署署長管理的職系，並可能由土木工程拓展署署長按當時適用的職位調派政策，派往不同的工務部門服務，包括土木工程拓展署、渠務署、路政署、運輸署、水務署及其他用戶部門。 (5) 申請人須隨申請表格夾附綜合招聘考試/香港高級程度會考/香港中學文憑考試/IELTS考試成績副本、香港工程師學會會員(土木界別)或同等資格證明副本，以及詳述其學術工作及相關工作經驗的履歷。沒有夾附所需文件副本的申請表概不受理。
職責:	工程師主要負責規劃、設計、實施和維修土木工程設施；管理在土地及基建發展、供水、運輸及港口設施、污水系統等方面的土木工程計劃[註(4)]。
聘用條款:	獲取錄的申請人通常會按公務員試用條款受聘三年。通過試用關限後，或可獲考慮按當時適用的長期聘用條款聘用。

Entry Requirements:	Candidates should (a) possess Corporate Membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Civil Discipline) elected after 5 December 1975, or equivalent [Note (1)]; (b) have a pass result in the Aptitude Test (AT) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) [Note (2)]; and (c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 1 results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)) in the CRE, or equivalent [Note (2)].
Note:	(1) In order to meet the entry requirement (a), applicants holding non-local professional qualifications only should prove the equivalency of such qualifications by the closing date for application, with supporting documents such as evidence of acceptance of their qualifications by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers for admission to its Corporate Membership (Civil Discipline). (2) The results of the AT paper in the CRE are classified as Pass or Fail. The results of the UC and UE papers in the CRE are classified as Level 2, Level 1 or Fail, with Level 2 being the highest. For civil service appointment purpose, Level 5 or above in Chinese Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE); or Grade C or above in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UC paper of the CRE. Level 4 in Chinese Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade D in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the HKALE, are accepted as equivalent to Level 1 in the UC paper of the CRE. Level 5 or above in English Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade C or above in Use of English of the HKALE; or Grade C or above in English Language of the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) (GCE A Level), are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UE paper of the CRE. Level 4 in English Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade D in Use of English of the HKALE; or Grade D in English Language of the GCE A Level, are accepted as equivalent to Level 1 in the UE paper of the CRE. Applicants with an overall band of 6.5 or above with no subtest score below band 6 obtained in the same sitting in the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the two-year validity period of the test result are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UE paper of the CRE. The IELTS test result must be valid on any date during the application period. (3) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will constitute an appropriate weighting in a candidate’s overall assessment. (4) The successful candidates will be under the grade management of the Director of Civil Engineering and Development. They may be posted to different Works Departments including Civil Engineering and Development Department, Drainage Services Department, Highways Department, Transport Department, Water Supplies Department and other user departments, subject to the latest posting policies of the Director of Civil Engineering and Development. (5) Applicants should attach copies of their CRE/HKALE/HKDSEE/IELTS results and proof of Corporate Membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Civil Discipline), or equivalent, together with a detailed account of their academic work and relevant working experience to their applications. Applications without provision of copies of the required documents will not be considered.
Duties:	An Engineer is mainly deployed on the planning, design, implementation and maintenance of civil engineering works; and administration of civil engineering projects in areas such as land and infrastructure developments, provision of water supply, transport and port facilities, sewage system, etc [Note (4)].
Terms of Appointment:	A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
