Master Pay Scale Point 6 (HK$15,845 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 10 (HK$20,305 per month)
Candidates should have attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard and have one of the following: (a) satisfactorily completed an approved and relevant printing apprenticeship; or (b) completed Secondary 3, or equivalent, plus three years’ relevant working experience; or (c) completed Primary 6, or equivalent, plus six years’ relevant working experience; or (d) a Diploma in Vocational Studies in Advertising, Packaging and Printing or a Technician Foundation Certificate in Printing Digital Workflow Production from the Vocational Training Council, or equivalent; plus two years’ relevant working experience.
(i) Candidates will be required to pass a trade test.
(ii) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
A Printing Technician II in the Finishing Stream is mainly deployed on supervising junior staff and operating the machines in the print finishing process; maintaining and adjusting the machines for proper operation, and hand-binding work. A Printing Technician II is required to work shifts and/or work overtime as necessary; and is subject to posting to different bureaux and departments.
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend interview without being subject to further shortlisting.
(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by post or by hand to the enquiry address.

Candidates will be invited for the trade test only if they pass the interview. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about twelve weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications. Those who do not receive an invitation may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
