Job Number: 37864 Department: Correctional Services Department Job Title: Contract Assistant Curator Salary: HK$20,025 per month Entry Requirements: (1) (a) a bachelor degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, majoring in one of the following subjects: Archeology, History, Museum studies, Cultural studies, Anthropology or equivalent; and (b) have met the language proficiency requirements of "Level 2" results in the two language papers ["Use of Chinese(UC)" and "Use of English(UE)"] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [Note (i)&(ii)]; (2) Fluent in Cantonese, English, and Putonghua; and (3) have high proficiency in the application of MS Office for carrying out duties, including both Excel and Chinese and English word processing. Preference will be given to candidates with strong computer knowledge. Note: (i) Level 5 or above in Chinese Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE); or Grade C or above in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UC paper of the CRE. Duties: (a) to be responsible for the daily operation of Hong Kong Correctional Services Museum, Community Education Centre and Museum Souvenir Shop, including provision of docent services; (b) to regularly update galleries of the Museum and Community Education Centre; (c) to manage all the exhibits of the Museum; (d) to organize activities in promoting Hong Kong Correctional Services history; (e) to arrange visits for schools and other organizations to the Museum and handle other related matters; and (f) to perform relevant administrative work and other duties as assigned by senior officers. (Note: The appointee may be required to work outdoor, and on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.) Terms of Appointment: Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for two years. Fringe Benefits (a) Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), 14 days annual leave and paternity/maternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance and contract terms. (b) A contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme will be made in accordance with the MPF Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485). (c) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Government's contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485), equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
