Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 0 (HK$11,055 per month) to Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 8 (HK$13,035 per month)
Candidates should have (a) completed Primary 6 education, or equivalent; and (b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard. (Note : Candidates will be required to pass a trade test.)
(i) The post of Workman II is open to both male and female. (ii) Workmen II are subject to posting and transfer within the department or in other bureaux/departments to fill vacancies and carry out different duties in the same grade when the need arises. (iii) Workmen II are required to work shifts and/or overtime as necessary. (iv) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law and promoting a culture of learning of Basic Law in the community, an assessment of Basic Law knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend an interview will be tested orally on their Basic Law knowledge during the interview. The results of Basic Law assessment will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
A Workman II is mainly deployed on (a) general manual labour work including cleansing, moving furniture and equipment, loading, unloading and/or packing printed matters, bulky stores and supplies items; (b) messengerial duties including indoor/outdoor collection and delivery of documents, stores and stationery items; (c) simple office work including operating photocopying machines, fax machines, binding machines, and sorting and/or binding documents; and (d) general administration support duties including opening and locking of exits, manning reception counters, provision of pantry services and assisting in the setting up of meeting venues.
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend trade test/interview.
(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the trade test/interview without being subject to further shortlisting.
(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by post or by hand to the enquiry address.

The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Completed application forms should reach the Appointment Unit of Government Logistics Department, 9/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong not later than 12 February 2015, with the envelopes clearly marked “Application for the post of Workman II”. On-line application can also be made through the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Applicants should state in detail in the application forms their academic qualifications attained and working experience. If the application is submitted by post, the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of the application. Applications which are incomplete, late, submitted by fax or email, not made in the prescribed form, or not duly signed will not be considered.
Candidates who are selected for trade test/interview will normally receive an invitation in about ten to twelve weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications. Those who do not receive an invitation may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
