Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 0 (HK$11,055 per month) to Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 8 (HK$13,035 per month)
Candidates should -
(a) have a Primary 6 education, or equivalent;
(b) be able to speak Cantonese and read simple Chinese;
(c) be able to speak and read simple English;
(d) be able to write simple Chinese or simple English; and
(e) have a good physique
(1) The post is open to male and female.
(2) Candidates will be required to pass a trade test.
(3) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will be tested orally on their BL knowledge during the recruitment interview. The results of the BL assessment will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
A Workman II is mainly deployed on
(a) manual work such as moving furniture and office equipment, tidying up office, preparing venue for meetings / events;
(b) general office work such as collecting, sorting and delivering files and documents, rendering outdoor collection and dispatch services;
(c) bulk mailing preparation such as packing materials and labelling work; and
(d) tea services for meetings / receptions.
(1) Workmen II are required to work outdoors, overtime, irregular hours or shifts;
(2) Workmen II will be subject to posting within the Workman II grade and carry out different duties in other Government bureaux/departments when need arises.
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
