Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 0 ($11,055 per month) to Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 8 ($13,035 per month)
Candidates, both male and female, should be -
(a) able to communicate in Cantonese/Chinese and simple English;
(b) able to read simple Chinese and simple English; and
(c) able to write simple Chinese or simple English.
(1) Candidates will be required to pass a trade test.
(2) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will be tested orally on their BL knowledge during the recruitment interview. The results of BL assessment will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
A Workman II is mainly deployed on -
(a) general labour duties such as delivering bulky documents, moving furniture and office equipment, and setting up venues for meetings;
(b) general administrative support duties including counter duties, opening and locking office doors, and photocopying work;
(c) receipt and despatch duties and clearing of in/out trays;
(d) cleaning and tidying work in office areas; and
(e) pantry duties and replenishing distilled water carboys.
Workmen II are subject to posting and transfer within the Planning Department and may be required to work irregular hours.
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Completed forms should reach the specified address on or before the closing date for application. Online application can also be made through the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Applications which are submitted by fax or e-mail, incomplete, late, not duly signed or not made in the prescribed form will not be considered. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about six to eight weeks from the closing date for application. A relevant trade test will be conducted at the time of interview. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
