Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 0 ($11,570) to Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 8 ($13,640) per month
The post is open to both male and female candidates. Candidates should -
(a) have completed Primary 6 education, or equivalent;
(b) be able to communicate in Chinese and simple English;
(c) be able to read simple Chinese and simple English; and
(d) be able to write simple Chinese or simple English.
(1) Candidates will be required to pass a trade test.
(2) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interviews will be tested orally on their BL knowledge during the recruitment interviews. The results of BL assessment will be taken into account only if two candidates or more are considered equal in all other aspects.
A Workman II is mainly deployed on -
(a) receipting and dispatching of documents and materials;
(b) performing office sundry duties, e.g. pantry cleansing work, and simple office support work, e.g. photocopying of documents;
(c) opening and closing the entrance door, patrolling around offices and manning reception and enquiry counters; and
(d) performing labouring duties.
Terms of Appointment:
A new appointee will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, the officer may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend an interview and take a trade test without being subject to further shortlisting.

Completed application forms should reach the address specified below on or before the closing date for application. Please specify “Application for the post of Workman II” on the envelope. Candidates who are selected for interviews will receive an invitation letter within six to eight weeks from the closing date for application. A relevant trade test will be conducted at the time of interview. Those who are not invited for interviews may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
