Candidates should have – (a) completed Secondary 5, or equivalent; (b) at least one year’s full time working experience, preferably related to environmental management or fieldwork; (c) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (Note :‘Grade C’ and “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 3” and “Level 2” respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth); (d) outdoor work experience; and (e) ability to lift heavy objects. Candidates invited for interview will be required to sit for a trade test (e.g. to lift a heavy object of about 20 Kg) on the date of interview. Proficiency in the use of computer applications, such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint, etc., and Chinese and English word processing will be an advantage.
Holders of academic/professional qualifications obtained from institutions outside Hong Kong should attach copies of their official transcripts and certificates to their applications.
The main duties include: (a) providing clerical support, such as compiling statistics, inputting and processing data and preparing training materials; (b) providing logistic support, such as reception counter service, dispatching service and venue set-up, etc.; (c) assisting in conducting fieldwork inspection such as collecting samples, carrying bulky equipment items and arranging relevant safety measures; and (d) performing outdoor duties such as site operation.
(Note: The hours and venues of work may be varied having regarded to the operational needs of the department. The successful candidate may be required to (a) work irregular hours and overtime, including evenings and weekends; (b) work occasionally outdoors; and (c) work occasionally on vessel.)
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months.
14 days paid annual leave will be granted to the successful candidate. The eligibility for rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), maternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, is in line with those provided for under the Employment Ordinance. A gratuity may be granted at the end of the contract period if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal to 10% of the total basic salary received during the contract period.

If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the interview without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the Enquiry Address.
