Candidates should have (a) Level 2 or equivalent (Note 1) or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; or Level 2 (Note 3) / Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; (c) native speaking skill in a foreign language/dialect, computer application knowledge and typing skills; (d) at least two years’ working experience in a law enforcement agency/government department, experience in investigative and detective duties preferred.
(1) “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. (2)The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language. (3)‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. (4)Successful candidates will be required to work irregular hours and undertake outdoor duties.
An Operation Assistant is mainly deployed on (a) assisting in conducting operations to enforce Miscellaneous Licences Ordinance (Cap.114), Gambling Ordinance (Cap.148), Hotel and Guesthouse Accommodation Ordinance (Cap.349), Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance (Cap.376), Amusement Game Centres Ordinance (Cap.435), Bedspace Apartments Ordinance (Cap.447) and Karaoke Establishments Ordinance (Cap.573); (b) assisting in preparing court documents for prosecution against unlicensed premises; (c) receiving telephone complaints on unlicensed premises; and assisting in the investigation of complaints; and (d) maintaining registers on the suspected unlicensed premises; and preparing statistical reports.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of 12 months.
A gratuity equivalent to 10% of the total basic salary drawn may be granted if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Other fringe benefits, where appropriate, will be provided in line with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance.
