(a) a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Building Studies from a Hong Kong polytechnic university / polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) or a technical college / technical institute, or equivalent; and (b) Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) [Note (1)], or equivalent. Preference will be given to applicants who can effectively use MicroStation.
(1) For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth; (2) Candidates should state clearly in the application details of academic qualifications and working experience; and (3) Applications which are incomplete will not be considered.
To be deployed in Transport Department undertaking the following duties: (a) preparing civil engineering drawings, project displays and presentation works; (b) making calculations, designs and plotting related to engineering surveys and minor civil engineering works; and (c) assisting in the preparation of basic computer programming and undertaking daily computer operation. (Note: May be required to work shift or irregular hours, perform outdoor duties, perform emergency and on-call duties during typhoon, severe weather conditions and other emergency events.)
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms up to a maximum period of 12 months.
Upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct, the appointee will be granted a gratuity for the period of service. Such gratuity, plus any contribution by the Government to the MPF scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. The eligibility of the employee for rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
