Candidates should have -
(a) (i) A Hong Kong degree in Journalism and Communications, media studies, Social Science, Language, or equivalent; OR
(ii) An accredited higher diploma / associate degree in Journalism and Communications, media studies, Social Science, Language, or equivalent; and at least 1 year’s experience in broadcasting or news gathering; OR
(iii) A Diploma in Journalism and Communications, media studies, Social Science, Language, or equivalent; and at least 2 years’ experience in broadcasting or news gathering; AND
(b) Level 2 or above in Chinese and English Languages in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE)/Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent [see notes];
Candidates who possess -
(i) Qualification or experience in broadcasting journalism; and/or
(ii) Experience and knowledge in operating portable video live transmission devices (e.g. Live
U), video shooting/editing; and/or
(iii) Experience in managing video news archive system and/or
(iv) Good broadcasting voice; and/or
(v) Proficiency in Chinese word-processing.
will have an advantage.
(a) ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. (b) Required to work shifts / irregular hours including midnight; (c) Candidates may be required to sit for a trade test and/or voice test.
To perform editing, gathering and reporting of news; translate and rewrite wired news; produce news reports and news-related specials to meet the needs of various platforms, including radio, television, mobile phones and news web sites; present in news bulletins and news-related programmes; and hosting news programmes where necessary.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for not more than 12 months. If the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct, the officer may be granted a gratuity which, when added together with the Government’s contribution to MPF scheme, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest day, general holidays, annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
