Applicants should – (a) have Diploma or Higher Certificate in Civil or Structural Engineering / Building Studies / Land Surveying from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or a technical institute/college, or equivalent; (b) have met the language proficiency requirement of ‘Level 2’ or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 1), or equivalent; (c) have at least one year’s relevant hands-on working experience in technical support; and (d) be proficient in PC, in particular AutoCAD, SketchUp and Photoshop and other technical drawing is an advantage.
(1) For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. (2) Successful candidates may be required to work irregular hours and on public holidays.
Successful candidates will be deployed to the Energizing Kowloon East Office in the Works Branch of the Development Bureau to undertake the following duties (Note 2) – (a) to provide technical support, including preparing plans, drawings, presentation and display materials for visualization of proposals in reports and in various meetings and forums, etc.; (b) to compile, process and present data statistics, scan plans and photos, convert data files and maintain backup of files and data; (c) to coordinate technical tasks on design / engineering / planning among the government, external consultants or contractors; (d) to manage and maintain IT systems to support office operation and manage all databases for the office; and (e) to perform any other duties assigned.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for two years.
A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Government’s contribution to the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. The benefits in respect of rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), annual leave, maternity/paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance and confirmed at the time of the offer of appointment.
