Master Pay Scale Point 2 ($12,310) to Master Pay Scale Point 11 ($21,550) per month
Candidates should have (a) completed Secondary 4, or equivalent; and (b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Secondary 4 standard.
(a) Candidates may be required to attend a written examination. If a written examination is held, only candidates passing the written examination will be invited for selection interviews and considered for appointment. Where a large number of candidates pass the written examination, candidates who attain a higher score will be selected for interviews.
(b) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will be tested orally on their BL knowledge during recruitment interview. The results of BL assessment will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
(a) Providing assistance in conducting various traffic / transport surveys / studies and subsequent analysis, maintenance and presentation of the collected data and information with the aid of computers; and
(b) Conducting site visits and inspection of road lighting, traffic aids and other traffic / transport related facilities and making record of their condition and functioning and maintaining an inventory of these facilities.
[Note: Successful candidates appointed may be required to work irregular hours and be posted to other Government departments.]
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/ she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend written examination and/or interview.
(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting.
(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions / Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
(j) Towards the application deadline, our on-line system would likely be overloaded due to large volume of applications. To ensure timely completion of your on-line application, it is advisable to submit the application as early as possible.

Application Forms (G.F. 340 [Rev. 3/2013]) are obtainable from any Public Enquiry Service Centre of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).
Completed form should reach the below enquiry address of the Transport Department on or before the closing date for application. Please mark on the envelope “Application for the post of Traffic Assistant” (the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of submission of application). Online application can also be made through the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Applicants are NOT required to submit photocopies of relevant academic qualification certificates at this stage.

Applications not made in the prescribed form, or which are late, incomplete or not duly signed will not be considered.
Candidates who are selected for written examination / selection interview will normally receive an invitation in about ten to twelve weeks from the closing date for application. Those who do not receive an invitation may assume that their applications are unsuccessful. The period of notification of written examination / selection interview may be longer when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications requiring a longer processing time for the applications.
