(a) have a qualification recognised by the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) as satisfying the academic requirements for corporate membership in the Land Surveying Division [Note (1)];
(b) have completed a 2-year graduate training scheme recognised by the HKIS [Note (2)]. Knowledge of and possession of experience in Geographical Information System (GIS) and application development will be advantageous.
(c) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) / Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination [Notes (3) & (4)], or equivalent.
(1) Candidates who are Corporate Members of the Land Surveying Division of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS), or equivalent; and have one year or more of relevant post-qualification experience in the field of land surveying by the end of the application period (i.e. 27 July 2015) will not be considered for the Contract Assistant Land Surveyor post. Successful applicants will be required to make a declaration to that effect.
(2) Candidates without the entry requirement stated in (b), but who are undergoing graduate training scheme may also apply; if selected, appointment will be subject to their completion of the 2-year graduate training period.
(3) For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(4) Candidates who can communicate in Chinese & English effectively but do not obtain ‘Level 2’ or above in Chinese & English Language in the HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent, may also apply and their applications may exceptionally be considered.
Contract Assistant Land Surveyor are mainly deployed to (a) carry out all types of land surveying (including geodetic, land boundary, topographical and photogrammetric surveys) and GIS/digital photogrammetry related work; (b) supervise survey parties; (c) supervise the preparation and production of all surveys and plans; (d) assist Senior Land Surveyors/Land Surveyors in the day-to-day administration of the office; and (e) carry out any other duties as required by senior officers.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 1 year.
(a) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinances, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
(b) Rest days, statutory holidays, annual leave, maternity leave or paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted on terms no less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
