Candidates should – (a) have a degree/diploma in Landscape Architecture or a qualification which is acceptable to the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects (HKILA) as satisfying the academic requirements for admission into the HKILA Examination; (b) have at least two years’ post-qualification practical training and/or experience satisfying the training requirements for Professional Membership of the HKILA; (c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; [See Note (1)] (d) preferably have experience on construction of public open spaces and public landscape projects; and (e) preferably have qualification / training on arboriculture.
(1) Grade C and Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 3 and Level 2 respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. (2) Successful candidates may be employed by Government Bureaux/other Government Departments. (3) Successful candidates may be required to work shifts and irregular hours.
Contract Assistant Landscape Officers are mainly deployed on – assisting Professional Supervisor-in-charge in: (a) investigating and assessing the potential use of all types of open spaces; (b) planning, designing and supervising the construction of public open spaces and landscape-related projects; (c) performing project management duties including the administration of contract and consultants in outsourced projects; and (d) providing professional advice on and handling of landscape and tree related matters. Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months.
An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.

If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Candidates should give a detailed account of their qualifications and experiences in their application forms and attach relevant documents to their applications. Completed forms should reach the following enquiry address on or before the closing date for application. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about six to eight weeks from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
