(a)(i) be a registered student of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants Qualification Programme, or have completed Fundamentals and Professional levels of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants exams, or equivalent; or
(ii) have attained Advanced Diploma of the Chartered Insurance Institute of U.K., or equivalent; or
(iii) have completed the Preliminary Education Component and satisfied the Validation by Educational Experience of the Society of Actuaries in the U.S.A., or equivalent;
(b) obtained Level 3 or above in Chinese language and English language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent. (Candidates who do not possess Level 3 but obtained Level 2 in Chinese Language (or equivalent) may also apply.) [See General Notes (h)].
Candidates who do not possess the requisite requirements listed in Item (a) above but who have a Hong Kong degree in accountancy or actuarial science or a relevant field of study, or equivalent, may also apply.
The appointee will assist his/her supervisors in (a) examining accounts and analyzing returns and statements submitted by insurance companies; (b) monitoring of insurance intermediaries; (c) research and development; (d) legislative matters pertaining to the Insurance Companies Ordinance; and (e) implementation of computer system for monitoring purpose.
Terms of Appointment:
The successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for one year. The candidate is expected to assume duty in October/November 2015.
A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485), will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, statutory holidays, annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted no less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(e) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend recruitment examination and/or interview.
(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria.
(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates together with their application forms.
(h) For appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ and ‘Grade C’ in Chinese Language in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ and ‘Level 3’ in Chinese Language respectively in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. ‘Grade C’ in English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ in English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.

Completed forms should reach the Executive Officer, Office of the Commissioner of Insurance, 21st Floor, Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway, Hong Kong not later than 28 August 2015. Applications not made in the prescribed form or which are incomplete or late will not be considered. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about four to eight weeks from the closing date of application.
