(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree, or equivalent; (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) or equivalent [See Note]; (c) At least 2 years' administrative working experience, preferably in the education sector; (d) Excellent command of both English and Chinese; (e) Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills; (f) Able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure; (g) Good computer skills and knowledge of PC software, including Chinese and English word processing; (h) For the post of Executive Assistant (Funding Scheme) : experience in database development / management is preferable; and (i) Applicants will be required to attend an interview and a written test.
For appointment purpose, 'Grade C' and 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 3' and 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
Appointees will be deployed to one of the following duties - (i) Executive Assistant (Funding Scheme) (a) To handle the administrative and financial matters relating to the implementation of "Professional Development Incentive Grant Scheme for Language Teachers", "Professional Enhancement Grant Scheme for Chinese Teachers (Teaching Chinese as a Second Language)" and "English Enhancement Grant Scheme for Primary Schools", including but not limited to :- (i) To process, vet and approve new and reimbursement applications submitted by teachers as well as the financial statements and original receipts submitted by schools; (ii) To manage the financial accounts as well as maintain the databases and conduct data analysis; (iii) To handle complaints and enquiries relating to the grant schemes; (iv) To conduct review of the grant schemes; (v) To supervise clerical staff; (b) To undertake any other duties as assigned by supervisors; and (c) May be required to work on Saturdays and public holidays occasionally.
(ii) Executive Assistant (Projects) (a) To provide administrative support in matters relating to the work of The Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR) [See Remarks]; (b) To manage projects and organise events and activities; (c) To monitor budget and perform accounting duties; (d) To supervise clerical staff; (e) To manage a proper filing and record system and collate returns; (f) To undertake any other duties as assigned by supervisors; and (g) May be required to work on Saturdays and public holidays occasionally. [Remarks : SCOLAR was established in 1996 to advise the Government on language education issues in general as well as on the use of the Language Fund.]
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 2 years.
14 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays, maternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
