Applicants should have (a) a good honours degree, preferably in the social sciences, from a Hong Kong university or equivalent; (b) Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007, or equivalent; (c) at least 3 years’ relevant post-degree working experience in academic or other regional studies/researches, or a postgraduate degree from a Hong Kong university or equivalent; (d) ability to work on research projects independently; (e) good interpersonal skills; (f) strong interest in public policy research; and (g) possession of good knowledge in computer applications and proficiency in Putonghua will be an advantage.
Applicants who have submitted a completed Application form [G.F. 340 (Rev.3/2013)] in response to the Researcher Recruitment Exercises since October 2013 need not submit application in respect of the same post.
To (a) plan and co-ordinate data collection, including liaison with local/overseas universities, think tanks and research organizations; (b) undertake research assignments; (c) provide research support in respect of writing up briefs, think pieces and reports; (d) assist in the organization of focus groups and seminars; and (e) provide secretariat support for various research committees, working groups and panels.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for two years.
If the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct, the officer may be granted a gratuity which, when added together with the Government’s contribution to MPF scheme, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, general holidays, annual leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted on terms not less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting.
(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by post to the above enquiry address.
