General Disciplined Services (Rank and File) Pay Scale Point 3 (HK$17,550 per month) to General Disciplined Services (Officer) Pay Scale Point 6 (HK$31,485 per month).
Candidates should: (a)(i) have a Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance, or Electrical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering, or Telecommunications issued by a Hong Kong polytechnic/polytechnic university, or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/technical college/technical institute, or equivalent, or (ii) have completed an approved technician apprenticeship or equivalent in Avionics, and (b) possess the required knowledge in the following trade: Avionics • have a good basic knowledge of Alternating Current and Direct Current theory, care of lead acid and alkaline batteries, modern transistorized circuits and general electrical principles with practical experience an advantage, or • have a good basic knowledge of aircraft instruments and electrical autopilots with practical experience an advantage, or • have a good basic knowledge of Very High Frequency, Ultra High Frequency and High Frequency communications systems and radar with practical experience an advantage; and (c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent; and be able to communicate in Chinese.
(1) For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. (2) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the written test will be assessed on their BL knowledge through a written test on the same day. The BL test result will be one of the considerations to assess the suitability of a candidate.
Mainly deployed on carrying out aircraft maintenance, related support activities and general duties to ensure the proper operation of aircraft and engineering facilities. He/She will be subject to discipline and will be required to work shifts and wear uniform.
Terms of Appointment:
New recruits will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years, and may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period.

The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s web site (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Completed forms should reach the address below by mail or in person on or before the closing date for application. For application delivered by mail, the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application. Please ensure that sufficient postage is paid. An applicant will bear any consequences arising from not paying sufficient postage. Applications which are incomplete, late or submitted by fax or e-mail, or not made in the prescribed form, or not duly signed will not be considered.
