This position is open to both male and female. Candidates should – (a) (i) have a Hong Kong First or Second Class Honours degree with Statistics as one of the subjects taken, in Economics or Mathematics, or in Social Science or a related field; or a Hong Kong First or Second Class Honours degree with Statistics taken in a post-graduate course organised by an acceptable institution; or equivalent; or (ii) have been designated as Graduate Statisticians of the Hong Kong Statistical Society, or equivalent; and (b) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.
(1) Applicants who do not possess the requisite qualification at the time of application deadline are regarded as not having met the entry requirements. However, current final year undergraduates/postgraduates may also apply; if selected, appointment will be subject to their obtaining the required academic qualifications and meeting the language proficiency requirements. (3) For appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.)

Research Managers are employed to meet temporary job needs of the Department. They are required to perform the following duties under the coaching and guidance of a Senior Statistician: Plan, organise and conduct statistical projects; design, implement and upkeep statistical systems; analyse, interpret and present statistical data, including report writing; undertake statistical research; manage a section of the Department when necessary; supervise and provide guidance to staff.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months.
12 days of annual leave per annum and the eligibility for the rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with those provided for under the Employment Ordinance. Upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct, the appointee will be granted a gratuity for the period of service. Such gratuity, plus any contribution by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
