Candidate should have – (a) a Hong Kong first or second class honours degree in a Physics, Environmental Science or Mechanical / Electrical / Automotive / Environmental Engineering subject, or equivalent; (b) minimum three-year relevant post-qualifications experience at an appropriate level of responsibility on either motor vehicle emission measurements or air pollution monitoring; (c) at least one-year hands-on experience on equipment maintenance; and (d) good command of spoken and written Chinese and English.
Holders of academic/professional qualifications obtained from institutions outside Hong Kong should attach copies of their official transcripts and certificates to their applications.
The main duties include – (a) overseeing contractors for measuring vehicle emissions; (b) conducting vehicle emission measurements; (c) performing periodic quality check of equipment; (d) liaising with overseas/local equipment manufacturers to trouble-shoot any operational issues; (e) arranging calibration with equipment manufacturers/contractors; and (f) performing other technical/administrative duties as assigned by the supervisors when required.
(Note: The hours and venues of work may be varied having regarded to the operational needs of the department. The successful candidate may be required to (a) work irregular hours and overtime, including evenings and weekends; and (b) work regularly outdoors.)
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for one year.
14 days paid annual leave will be granted to the successful candidate. The eligibility for rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), maternity / paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, is in line with those provided for under the Employment Ordinance. A gratuity may be granted at the end of the contract period if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary received during the contract period.
