$39,282 to $43,782 per month, depending on qualifications and experience
Candidates should have
(a) a master’s degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, in the subject of Geomatics, Geoinformation Science, Geo-informatics or Geographic Information System (GIS);
(b) attained Level 2 or above in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note (2)];
(c) at least two years’ relevant working experience in undertaking research on and/or implementation of GIS / 3D modelling / 3D GIS / photogrammetry / Satellite Positioning (SP) / mobile application and wireless computing projects. Candidates with relevant experience of similar nature will also be considered;
(e) good command of written and spoken Chinese and English; good inter-personal skills; self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team; good research attitude and strong knowledge of research methods.
(1) Candidates are required to submit a portfolio of not more than 10 pages to illustrate their competence and experience related to the requirements.
(2) For the purpose of appointment of non-civil service contract staff, ‘Grade E’ in English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(3) Candidates who have responded to the vacancy advertisement for the same post in August 2015 need NOT apply again. They will be considered under the same entry requirements specified above in this exercise.
To provide technical support and input to the daily operation (i.e. maintenance, training and enhancement etc.) of the existing GIS/3D/mobile and wireless computing and related systems/projects; to undertake research in applying GIS/3D GIS/3D modelling/ photogrammetry/ SP technologies to facilitate and enhance planning work; to manage and implement various projects, including supervising and managing contractors and to organize and conduct training courses; to prepare tender/ quotation documents.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for one year.
An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria.
(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
