Master Pay Scale Point 5 ($13,600) per month to Master Pay Scale Point 8 ($16,425) per month
Candidates should have – (a) at least two years of relevant experience in land/engineering survey; (b) passed a relevant trade test; and (c) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard.

(2)For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will be tested orally on their BL knowledge during recruitment interview. The results of BL assessment will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
A Chainman is mainly deployed on – (a) assisting members of Survey Officer or Land Surveyor grades to carry out survey work in the field; (b) undertaking the preparation, care, maintenance and transportation of survey equipment, tools and materials for field survey operations; (c) maintaining the order and cleanliness of the survey store; and (d) assisting in the training of Workman II. (Selected candidates may be required to work irregular hours and work outdoor in heavy traffic, hilly or rugged areas and in inclement weather conditions.)
Terms of Appointment:
A successful candidate will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, the officer may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

Completed form, together with a copy of documentary evidence of academic qualifications and relevant working experience, should reach the enquiry address below on or before the closing date for application (the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application).
