(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree, or equivalent;
(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary education institution, or equivalent;
(c) Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 (See Note) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
(d) At least six years' relevant post-degree working experience in teaching/educational administration/research;
(e) Preference will be given to candidates who have (i) proven experience of programme development related to supporting students with special educational needs; and/or (ii) experience in conducting evaluation studies; and/or (iii) relevant training in special education;
(f) Be responsible, self-motivated and enthusiastic;
(g) Good command of written and spoken Chinese and English;
(h) Good analytical, organisation and communication skills; and
(i) Able to work independently and as a team to meet requirements and schedule in planning, coordinating and implementing programmes.
For appointment purpose, 'Grade C' and 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 3' and 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(a) To oversee and monitor the progress of the pilot project on special educational needs coordinator (SENCO);
(b) To closely liaise with the consultants and implement their recommendations;
(c) To formulate plans and schedules for conducting various activities under the pilot project and to provide professional support for the participating schools;
(d) To devise specific plans to collect quantitative and qualitative data for evaluating the effectiveness of the project;
(e) To collect and supervise the collection and processing of quantitative and qualitative data for analysis and meaningful interpretation;
(f) To visit schools with the consultants to provide professional advice;
(g) To disseminate good practices and report the findings/progress of the pilot programme at sharing sessions;
(h) To assist the consultants in the preparation of interim and final reports;
(i) To liaise with the consultants responsible for the training of SENCOs to better meet their training needs locally; and
(j) To perform any other duties as and when required.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 1 year.
(a) 14 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. (b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
