Master Pay Scale Point 8 ($17,995 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 10 ($20,305 per month)
Candidates should have (a)(i) a Craft Certificate in Air-conditioning & Refrigeration from Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or a technical institute/technical college, or equivalent; or (ii) successfully completed a recognized apprenticeship or other approved course of practical training in air-conditioning engineering plus at least two years' post-apprenticeship/practical training experience in the trade; or (iii) at least six years' experience in air-conditioning engineering; and (b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Secondary 3 standard.
(Note: Candidates are required to pass a trade test at an appropriate level. Preference will be given to candidates who have relevant work experience in the air-conditioning engineering field)
1.For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
2.Successful candidates may be posted to other departments and may be required to (a) work irregular hours/in remote areas/in harsh conditions; (b) perform shift duties/stand-by duties/on-call duties/emergency duties; (c) wear uniform/protective clothing; (d) carry pager/mobile phone; and (e) perform any other duties as specified from time to time. Successful candidates may also need to perform self-drive duty (training will be provided where necessary) on a voluntary basis.
A Senior Artisan (Air-conditioning) is mainly deployed to supervise and direct the work of a team of Artisans in the operation/maintenance of air-conditioning and refrigeration plants and equipment and to perform operation/maintenance duties independently, including maintenance work which requires higher skill.
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting.
(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
