Master Pay Scale Point 9 ($17,485) per month to Master Pay Scale Point 22 ($34,315) per month
Candidates should have (a) a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Information Technology or Computer Science from a Hong Kong polytechnic university / polytechnic or the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education / technical college / technical institute, or equivalent; and (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [see Note (1)]; and be able to communicate in Chinese and English.
(1)For civil service appointment purpose, 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 2' in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. (2)For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will be assessed on their BL knowledge through a written test to be conducted immediately before or after the recruitment interview. The BL test result will be one of the considerations to assess the suitability of a candidate.
A Technical Officer (Information Technology) is mainly deployed on (a) providing technical support and advice to the operation, maintenance and enhancement of departmental computer systems and technical equipment; (b) conducting user acceptance tests and identifying new user requirements and areas for system enhancement; (c) liaising with the system developer on the maintenance and upgrading of computer systems; (d) handling the system Hotline and Helpdesk enquiries; and (e) preparing and updating user guides and training materials.
(Note : May be required to work irregular hours and perform outdoor duties.)
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Completed forms, together with copies of certificates and transcripts in support of the (i) academic qualifications (including photocopies of certificates and transcripts showing the results achieved in Chinese and English languages); and (ii) supporting documents of working experience, should be forwarded with the envelope clearly marked 'Application for the post of Technical Officer (Information Technology)' to the below enquiry address of the recruiting department on or before the closing date for application.
