Master Pay Scale Point 9 ($18,310) to Master Pay Scale Point 12 ($21,890) per month.
Candidate should have -
(a) (i) obtained a Certificate in Civil Engineering from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of
Vocational Education (IVE) or a technical institute/technical college , or equivalent [Nore (1)]; or
(ii) completed a recognised Technician Apprenticeship in civil engineering; or
(iii) at least five years’ experience as a skilled worker in civil engineering; and
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the
Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education
Examination (HKCEE) , or equivalent [Note (2)].
(1) Final year students to be awarded the concerned Certificate in 2015 may also apply. Applicants invited for interviews must present the latest transcript of study for verification. Candidates must obtain the Certificate at the time of appointment. (2) For civil service appointment purpose, Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to "Level 2" in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. (3) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will be assessed on their BL knowledge through a written test to be conducted before or after the recruitment interview. The BL test result will be one of the considerations to assess the suitability of a candidate but will not affect his/her eligibility for applying for civil services jobs. As a general principle, the main consideration for suitability for appointment remains a candidate’s qualification, experience and calibre.
Mainly deployed on the following types of work -
(a) carrying out site inspection and supervision of works, preparing reports and cost estimates of works, and keeping records;
(b) conducting site tests and supervising the operation of equipment and plants;
(c) assisting in planning and implementation of programmes for maintenance works; and
(d) supervising junior staff and managing stores.
Note: may be posted to other Government departments; may be required to work irregular hours and/or shift, work in remote areas, and undertake on-call, standby and emergency duties.
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend recruitment examination and/or interview.
(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting.
(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).
Completed forms should reach the enquiry address below on or before the closing date for application (the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application). Please mark on envelope the title of the job applied for. On-line application can be made through Civil Service Bureau’s website.
Applications which are incomplete, late or applications submitted by fax or email, or not made in the prescribed form will not be considered.
