Candidates should have – (a) a Diploma or Higher Certificate in an environmental management, science or engineering subject from a Hong Kong university / polytechnic, or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/technical institute/technical college, or equivalent; (b) met the language proficiency of Level 2 or above in the Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (Note : For non-civil service appointment Purpose, “Grade E” or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth); (c) at least one-year full time relevant post-qualification working experience in environmental protection, preferably in air quality monitoring or related areas; and (d) knowledge and experience in computer work.
Successful candidate may be required to work during or outside normal office hours on any days, including weekdays (Monday to Friday), Saturdays, Sundays and public holiday, etc. The number of working hours is subject to the operational needs. There is no guarantee on the minimum number of hours of work in any given period.
The main duties include to (a) provide technical support to inspectors and officers on vehicle emission control programmes; (b) answer and handle public enquiries; (c) provide field support on complaint investigation and publicity activities; (d) assist inspectors and officers in organizing briefing sessions; (e) assist in the issuing of Emission Testing Notices; (f) assist in technical data handling; and (g) perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
(Note : Successful candidate may be required to work outdoors occasionally.)
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for twelve months.
