(a) a postgraduate degree in Economics from a Hong Kong university or equivalent (doctoral degree in Economics preferable); (b) a high level of competency in both spoken and written English and Chinese; (c) at least 5 years of full-time economic analysis or related working experience (economic research experience with academic or research institutions as well as good knowledge and experience in high-powered econometric modelling preferable) [See Note below].
Candidates should state the nature and relevance of the working experience, including all economic analysis and research studies undertaken in private companies and academic or research institutions.
Successful candidate(s) will have to : (a) undertake in-depth economic research and analysis independently and produce research papers on a wide range of economic subjects and government policies; (b) liaise with local academics, trade associations, business representatives and other stakeholders so as to collate opinions; (c) provide presentations and briefings to stakeholders concerned; and (d) supervise the work of Research Analyst(s) if needed.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidate(s) will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of 12 months.
An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently good standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, when added to the Government’s contribution to the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will at maximum equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. 14-day paid annual leave and other fringe benefits, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Completed forms should reach the below enquiry address on or before the closing date for application (according to postmark if applicable).
